In 2016 the population in Florida overwhelmingly voted to allow medical cannabis. However, the governor at the time -Rick Scott (R)- signed a law that made smoking cannabis in any form or way illegal.
On Monday that ban was overturned when the current governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed a legislation bill to repel it.
