Monday The Bay Mills Indian Community in Chippewa County legalized recreational cannabis. That means they are the first reservation to do so in Michigan.
Use, possession and cultivation of cannabis for personal use are legal for adults. No commerce with cannabis is allowed so far. However, enterprises of the Indian Community will later be able to sell cannabis, once the whole legislation is in place.
Individuals with convictions of cannabis offenses can petition the tribal court to have them erased, since cannabis now is legal in Michigan.
