New Zealand could be first state to legalize after referendum

Nya Zealand could become the first state ever to legalize cannabis as a result of a referendum.
That is the content of the agreement between the three political parties who are currently in government position.

A referendum in the 2020 election will decide whether New Zealand will legalize cannabis or not. The reform will oblige the government to follow the will of the people.

This reform means that for people over the age of 20 it will be possible to buy, hold and grow some cannabis.

If the outcome of the referendum will be positive, the people of New Zealand would join Uruguay and Canada, who also have legalized cannabis.

According to a pretty recent poll, currently around 60% of the population are positive to a legalization.
