Since cannabis still is illegal on the federal level in the US, many hospitals refuse to allow it. Instead they are treating terminally ill patients with opioids. The result is that these persons cannot communicate with their loved ones during their last hours alive.
Now there is some hope this will change. A Californian senator named Ben Hueso (D) introduced a bill named SB 305 in February. Yesterday it was scheduled for a hearing. Senator Jeff Stone (R) promised that he would move the bill at “an appropriate time”.
Also the Cannabis Nurses Network are supporting this bill.
