In his first state budget the Democratic new governor of Wisconsin,Tony Evers, will propose decriminalization of cannabis. He will also propose legalization of medical cannabis.
However, chances to get these proposals to pass through the chamber are not great. The Republicans control the Legislature and the Senate Majority leader Scott Fitzgerald has said that he is opposed to medical cannabis.
Some Republicans have indicated they are open to legalize cannabis, but only for medical reasons.
